Welcome to the Gold Team! I am looking forward to being your child's Social Studies teacher this year.
Background: My Bachelor's Degree - from Carroll College (now University) - is in Elementary Education. I have a Master's Degree from UW-Whitewater in Special Needs/Transitional Education. I also have a Reading License from UW-Whitewater.
Experience: I have been in the district for many years. When I was first hired, I taught fourth grade at Tibbets. After three years I looped to fifth grade. I loved the fifth grade curriculum, so I stayed - for fifteen years. When the opportunity came along, I was excited to make the move to sixth grade to teach English/Lit full time at the middle school. You might also know me from summer school. I taught Marsh and Pond for many years, and more recently, Outdoor Adventure. This year I made the move to teach Social Studies and I can't wait to get started!
Interests: I love spending time with family and friends. I enjoy being outdoors and doing simple things - like gardening/landscaping, hiking, kayaking, and boating. I am well-known in my family for being a care-taker and being good at picking out great gifts! I like to travel, and enjoy festivals and concerts. A few of my favorite things: my son , coffee, summer and fall, interior design, bonfires, cooking out, a cozy fire, a good book, and being outside. In my classroom I have collections of Snapple Lids, rocks from the Southwest, and buttons (most from one of my grandmas).
In the Classroom: I enjoy and do my best to plan lessons that will keep your child interested, while also challenging them. I have high expectations (academically and behaviorally) and will provide support along the way. We have a lot to accomplish - in a short amount of time - so I will always expect your child to be on task and be productive. I am really looking forward to a great year!
